WHY WE USE CLAY......

I use French clays in my products for their great rejuvenating, healing, cleansing, exfoliating and smoothing effects they have on the skin. As well as taking away impurities it adds much needed minerals for healthy looking skin.

There are five types of French clay which are defined by colour and each colour has standout properties and recommendations. This is how I decide on which colour to use in which product.

GREEN clay has the most drawing and detoxifying properties. It is ideal for deep cleansing and exfoliating congested skin clearing and healing acne prone skin. It works by drawing out impurities leaving skin clear and fresh looking, refines pores, smooths and deeply moisturises.

YELLOW clay is indicated for very sensitive skin. It’s healing and deep cleansing properties make it ideal for eczema and psoriasis for children or adults. And it’s so gentle it can be used in products for healing nappy rash or any dry skin conditions baby might have.

PINK clay is slightly less drawing properties than green clay and is highly recommended for mature skin. It’s indicated for cell renewal and therefore great for sun damaged skin conditions, broken capillaries and improving elasticity of the skin. It’s a great additive to body butters for very dry skin.

RED clay has very similar properties to PINK clay. It’s recommended for cell renewal and healing damaged skin due to sun damage etc.

WHITE clay is the most gentle with regard to drawing properties. It’s more moisturising and balancing. It’s a great choice for dry or combination skin and gentle enough to use on elderly skin which can become very dry. I use white clay in body scrubs to moisturise and soften the skin.

Prepare yourself for Winter Skin

Skin is drier in winter as there is less moisture in the air. So without the humidity of the warmer months skin dries out very quickly. We are also often sitting in heated rooms that draw the moisture out of the air and our skin. So use an organic body lotion to prevent scaly dry skin. It will add moisture and prevent moisture loss over the day. Apply after a shower before to re-hydrate your skin over night. If you already have very dry skin, use a body butter. They are heavier and absorb over a longer period of time. As they sit on your skin for longer, they leave a sheen on your skin which makes your skin look lovely and shiny. I used to have worse breakouts in winter as my skin became very dry along the jaw line and neck. My organic face moisturisers are great to maintain moisture to prevent breakouts. They are heavy enough for winter but wont leave your face greasy and shiny.

Official Website On The Way!!!!

This is a very exciting time for me and my business. The process of having my website built has begun! Sales for my products continue to grow and the repeat business from all my clients is the best compliment I could receive. So thank you to all!!! About 5 or maybe 6 years ago I first had the idea for this business, made to order aromatherapy products. To utilise the power of essential oils for more than just oil burners and in massage oil. (Which are all great uses by the way :)) So I began the process then. I had to go back to college and become and aromatherapist, create a business plan. I had to source packaging which would suit my purpose. Essential oils have to be contained in a certain type of plastic which luckily is also recyclable. And I wanted all my suppliers and supplies where possible to be Australian made and owned. A lot of essential oils are imported but the company I source them from is Australian. I needed labels, and waterproof labels at that. I had to research labelling laws which was so much fun..... I needed a logo, business cards, brochures..... Hours and hours were spent on proofing labels and artwork and all my printing. Comparing quotes on packaging and courier companies. To the point my son, who at this stage of the process was about 18 months old, would see me open my laptop and launch himself at me saying "NONONONONO"! Laptop meant meant my attention was elsewhere. But it was for a greater good. My main motivation was to provide a better life for both of us and doing a job I love at the same time. I then set myself a goal of reaching out to a certain number of clients and having a certain level of repeat business to affirm to myself the business was viable and not just a great idea in theory. I love getting emails from my clients thanking me for their products and ordering more for themselves and for gifts. It really is becoming a dream come true. The ultimate goal was to have my website built, which as I mentioned is underway! So a whole new set of challenges are presenting themselves. Deciding on content is harder than you think! I look at what I've achieved to date and the satisfaction that follows and it gives me all the motivation I need to put in the long hours and hard work to follow it though. But a huge thank you to my parents who apart from lending me the capital to get this far have given me a far greater gift. And that is a ridiculous amount of support and encouragement. They are my biggest fans, so THANK YOU! xxxxx

SUMMER SKIN SAVERS

The last few weeks of beautiful spring weather has reminded me I need to introduce you to some skin savers, just for summer. But also to think about your skin care routine and how the weather is going to affect it.

Our skin becomes drier in winter and prone to breakouts, so the products you have been using may need to be tailored coming into summer when there is more moisture in the air and our skin becomes a little oiler. Maybe think about changing your toner and moisteriser.

I have two products to add to your summer skin "first aid" kit. Both aloe vera based, which is deeply moisturising and restorative and blended with specific essential oils to reduce inflammation, burning, itching and natural cell renewal properties to quickly repair damaged skin and natural analgesic properties to reduce pain from sunburn, etc.

The "After Sun" gel is suitable for the whole family. Keep it in the fridge to enhance the cooling effect, although it's not necessary to. Ideally use it after a day in the sun, as opposed to using it as an everyday moisturiser. It will take the heat and sting from sunburned skin and reduce healing time. It comes in 250 ml family size, enough to last a whole summer.

Now, the second product is called "Itchy Bye Bye" and it's used to take the sting and itch out of insect bites, pelican itch, mozzi bites and you could also use it for sunburn. I used it for the last two summers on my son, who is now 2 1/2. As a baby he reacted terribly to mozzi bites, as a lot of babies do. One single mozzi bite would end up in a huge red welt that would itch for days. In the area we live in, unfortunately there is no escaping them in summer! So I found a blend of essential oils to reduce the itching and help heal broken skin. The other wonderful advantage of using and aloe vera gel base, is aloe vera dries on the skin, leaving a fine film which is great for retaining moisture but also for any small breaks in the skin from itching or cracking.

Summer brings a whole range of new health and beauty dilemmas. Again, here is the beauty and the versatility of essential oils. I can adjust your whole skin, body and hair care range to survive the change in weather. And tackle any new obstacles, humidity in particular and wreak havoc on fluid retention. If you have any queries on how to help manage that don't hesitate to contact me.

The Winter Rub

Very conveniently, my two year old came down with a cold recently. Perfect timing to try mummy's new blend!

Children respond so readily to natural therapies. We had the "colds" blend in the oil burner and "winter rub" on his back and chest. It made the house smell so lovely. I even found myself breathing easier. He was definitely a lot calmer and breathing easier.

Young children don't hold back when they don't like something, so I felt reassured when my son came up to me lifting his shirt saying "wub".......

I have given out samples for friends and family to try. Both for adults and children. I am very pleased to say I have received excellent feedback on all fronts.

No Parabens........

Like SLS, Parabens are not an essential ingredient in many items from cosmetics to food and drink. They are used as a preservative. Parabens also have huge negative impact on our health.

Parabens in cosmetics may cause eye and skin irritation and contact dermatitis.

Parabens have displayed estrogenic activity in several tests. In other words, these chemicals mimic the body's own hormones and can thus disrupt endocrine functions in virtually every system in the body.

No Sodium Laurel Sulphate.......

SLS is used in our cosmetic products, shower products, toothpaste, some food items and industrial cleaning products as an emulsifier and degreaser. The potential health risks of being exposed to SLS are scary.

SLS is used in clinical studies as a skin irritant, used to cause irritation to then calculate healing properties of other substances.

SLS is absorbed via the skin even at low levels. This causes huge problems with our endocrine (hormonal) system as SLS mimics the effect oestrogen (a naturally occurring hormone in both men and women) creating havoc with fertility (male fertility included), PMS/PMT symptoms and menopause.

Studies have shown permanent damage to the cornea can result from skin contact to SLS.

In many of the products it is being used in, it is not an essential ingredient. You have to ask why our health and our children's health is being put at risk. SLS is cheap!
